Day 35

World History I


Setting the Stage
In addition to their government, Rome put a lot of value on their military.  Soon, their military will be put to the test as they fight a very formidable opponent, Carthage.  These two super power will be fighting for control of the Mediterranean Sea. 

Activities
 1. The Punic Wars
        a.  Students will be given classroom time to             go over the attached reading guide using               pages 158-159.  Students will also use                the following website, Hannibal Link. to               look deeper into the personality of                       Hannibal Barca.
        b.  We will watch Part II of Hannibal Video

        
Objectives
1.  Describe how the Punic Wars increased Rome's power.

Setting the Stage
By the late 19th and early 20th century, the American Industrial boom was at its peak. All of these industrial achievements began an urbanization movement that no American city was prepared for.  

Activities
1. Chapter 7.3 - Politics in the Gilded Age
        a.  Students will be given a guided reading
             activity sheet to help guide them
             through the section
        b.  Information gathered today will lead
             to a classroom discussion tomorrow
2.  Students are giving their Chapter 7 Study
