Day 18




World History I

 Setting the Stage
Sparta would eventually became a military state because of the fear of a helot revolt.  Struggles between rich and poor led Athens to become a democracy.  The greatest danger of all - invasion by Persian armies - moved Sparta and Athens alike to their greatest glory.

Activities
1.  The Persian Wars
      a.  Students will create brief timelines for each of the                      following battles during the Persian Wars:
                 - Battle of Marathon
                 - Battle of Thermopylae
                 - Battle of Salamis
                 - Formation of the Delian League
       b. Perisan Wars Information PP

Today's lesson will be continued through tomorrow!                                                                             
Objectives
1.  Summarize the battles and results of the Persian Wars
2.  Describe the government of Athens and Sparta

Setting the Stage
The expansion westward proved to be one that nobody could have foreseen the struggles for both natives and 'easterners'.  As their conflicts settled down, the struggle did not end out in the west.


Activities
1.   Quest (quiz/test) Preparation
          a.  Students will be allowed time to work
               on their study guides, flash card 
               activity, and alternate review 
               crossword puzzle.

2.   Open Forum  (last 10 minutes)
          a.  Students will be alotted time to ask 
               any question pertaining to class 
               content
