Setting the Stages
Martin Luther, as well as other religious reformers, question that Church's power beyond the realm of religion. As the Church felt it's power and influence lose ground, they tried to gain that power back.
1. The Catholic Reformation
a. Students will use background knowledge to answer three essential questions about Martin
Luther and King Henry VIII of England. Students will then decide who they believe had
more of a valid reason to break form the church.
b. Students will then go through information regarding the "Catholic Reformation". They will
use this information to fill-out the timeline provided on the attachment.
c. Catholic Reformation Attachment
d. A classroom discussion will be held on Monday over the information
