WHI Day 15: Roman Republic/Army

Setting the Stage
While Greece was on the decline, a new city to the west was developing and increasing power.  Rome grew from a small settlement to a mighty civilization that eventually conquered the Mediterranean world.  Eventually the Romans would build one of the most famous and influential empires in history. 

Activities
1.  Correct last week's starter questions (10 points)
2.  Roman Republic
      a.  Students will write a brief summary about the condition of the republic by 500 BC.
      b.  What were the Twelve Tables? Sound familiar?
      c.  Student will describe the roles of Roman consuls, senate, centuriate assembly, tribal assembly,
           and praetors.
3. The Roman Army
      a.  Who has to fight?  How is the Roman army broken down?  How did the Romans treat those
            they conquered?
      b.  Roman Republic/Army Attachment

1.  Identify the origins of ancient Rome
